I would just like it known that I really, really fucking hate my body. I hate that I have to work out for an hour a day, eating no more than 1200 calories per day (most of that fruit and veggies) just to peel off one measely pound.

But should I dare to eat Easter dinner, I instantly gain three pounds back.

I am so fucking tired of my body. I am tired of how lousy it works. I am tired of how hideous it looks. I'm tired of the fact that it doesn't do anything right. I'm tired of how much maintenance it is, and how little that maintenance seems to mean in the long run. I'm tired of being told by my own sister that I should look into the lapband surgery because I'm so fat.

Come on. I've been working out for an hour a day for two weeks and then one weekend screws that completely up? You've got to be kidding me. That's not fair. How is that even right?

How is that these people on magazines say they can lose half their body weight just by walking thirty minutes a day, but I exercise for a goddamn hour and nothing. I'm eating nothing but salads and fruits and I'm getting really frustrated and I'm not sure what to do about it.

I hope it's okay that I added you? We share some similar LJ friends. If not, I totally understand.

Do you add people back or no? Thanks for the okay. :)

It depends. Usually I go and read their LJ to see what we have in common. It may take me a while, so don't take it personally if you're not on my flist right away. I'm slooooow like that.

Men may want to look away from this comment

::hugs:: I have no idea what to tell you. I'd suggest talking to a health professional (other than your sister, she's biased) if you had insurance, but...

As for picking up three pounds over the weekend, where are you in your menstrual cycle? Could some of that be water weight? (Something to think about, no need to answer...)

Men can take more personal stuff than that, my dear.

Not a suggestion, just a comment!

As for you, Meg, I'm sorry to hear things aren't going better. If you have the funds, I'd suggest making an appointment with a nutritionist. Without insurance, you can at least console yourself with the fact that you can skip getting a referral.

Well, real men can. And I think you fall neatly into that category. :)

Have you ever been to a nutritionist? I ask because I'm not sure what they do or what I'm supposed to go to them for, and how much they can help me besides coming up with a diet for me, and I can do that myself.

1) Why thank you!

2) I can't say that I have. I suppose I mean you might think about seeing a doctor (or similar professional) who understands this kind of thing better than your average family practice doctor. (Preferably one who's not a quack, since I'm sure you can find any number of those ;)

I have some insurance through Andrew, but honestly? I'm really afraid to go. I'm afraid that either the doctor will completely dismiss me and say I must be lying and not doing what I say I'm doing, or I'll get Really Bad News. And I just cannot take any more health problems.

Plus, I think if I have one more person tell me I need to go for surgery, I'm going to scream.

And I'm not sure what kind of doctor I would go to. I mean, a nutritionist is just for diet, right?

Hmm. Since you have insurance, I think it might be best to find a good general practitioner (if you don't already have one) and get their opinion. If they don't have any helpful input, ask for a referral to a specialist--your doctor should be able to tell you what kind of specialist can help.

Yeah, like an endocrinologist. Who knows? Maybe you have a thyroid issue - either not enough or maybe your body can't convert T4 to T3. That's correctable with a $4 prescription.

When/if you feel like going to a doc, maybe it could help? Maybe it's something simple.

I think so. But you may have a glandular problem or not be eating enough of a variety of foods. I don't know, I'm not an expert.

Jeez, is there some kind of surgery your sister could get so that she won't say such obnoxious crap?
