Ah, relief
Wednesday, 27 June 2007 12:22Yesterday night I convinced the Boy to put in our one window unit AC. So yes, I guess that it is technically inaccurate that we don't have AC.
But, the Boy is (rightfully) picky about when we put in the AC. I know I bitch about the heat more than I probably should, but even I know that the AC sucks up power. And we want to keep costs down for the summer. I'm kosher with us not putting the AC up and running it until it gets hot enough to justify it.
Today and yesterday met my "hot enough to justify it" threshold. I was able to tolerate the living room/kitchen until about eleven, and then the heat just got too much and it felt bad to breathe the air.
So now I'm holed up in our bedroom with the door closed, enjoying the coolness. Whether in captivity or the wild, the Meg likes to be kept at room temperature or below. Hot weather causes grumpiness and aggression in the Meg, so when confronted with a hot, sweaty, frustrated Meg, its best to just to walk slowly backwards and make no threatening noises or motions as she has been known to bite.
Silliness aside, I feel slightly guilty. I know that the Boy really doesn't like to run our window unit - but I was miserable yesterday and I couldn't think/write/function it was so hot. If it cools down like it's supposed to tonight/tomorrow, then we can take the window unit out. But we do HAVE an AC, and its not like I'm going to be running it all summer long. Just when the days get bad like this.
