Glee!

5 Good Things About Today

1. Work went relatively quickly
2. At work, found letters written by Joan Baez's mother to some woman in Seminole, Florida with pictures of her daughter that were signed by Joan Baez herself. All of which date from 1985 and were stuck in a book that had languished inside of our warehouse for god knows how long.
3. Was amused to look up gardening book written by "Lisa Davies". TP fans will get this. I guess *that* question's just been answered.
4. Ham and cheese loaf!
5. Strawberry flavored waters of joy!


3 Things I Did Well

1. Drank lots of water
2. Had a 100+ book day at work
3. Got some more progress on outline of novel.

LJ Interests meme results

1. black and white photography:
   More dramatic than color photography because it's all light and darkness. Yet sometimes far more subtle. I think it's dramatic and subtle and very beautiful and it affects me more than color photography. Also captivating because in my head, b&w instantly vintage-izes stuff and I like looking at old pictures of people standing around looking confused in nice clothing in front of a car, a house, or a couch.
2. diaries:
   I keep them, I love reading other people's online and off and I think everyone in the world should keep a diary. I love diaries. I love people who keep them. I think keeping a diary should bonus you 10 points on a standard IQ test. I like to look at diaries in book stores. I like to just touch them and think about what I'd write in them if I owned them all. It also squees me to no end to find *other* people's diaries that have been lost to them, especially if they're old.
3. frou frou:
   Favorite band who rocks. "Close Up". Still makes me air guitar and headbang (when nobody is looking). And "The Dumbing Down of Love". GAH!
4. grace:
   Interesting concept from religion that I like to hold on to. Also, a beautiful thing to think about.
5. julius caesar:
   Historical figure with whom I am fascinated.
6. margaret atwood:
   Wrote Handmaid's Tale and Oryx and Crake both books that I liked a lot.
7. paper:
   I like paper. I like to study how it looks, feels, writes. I like to think about paper. Heavy weight, bonded, acid-free. Lined. Unlined. Ivory. White. Construction paper. Typing paper. Notebook paper. Sketching paper. Tracing paper. Carbon paper. I like to think about stationery. I like to think about wallpaper sometimes, even.
8. science fiction:
   Life long love affair with the strange, the fantastic, and the things that mainstream society looks down on because it isn't boring or regular or forumulaic. The section I immediately go to in any bookstore. The genre from which I'm most likely to pick a TV show.
9. tori amos:
   Singer/songwriter who's stuff has a love/hate with me. Love of tone, love of some phrases, love of her ability to make the piano do things to my soul. Hate of times when she just falls so short and doesn't do so well, 'cause I know she can. Love of Choirgirl Hotel. Deep ambivalence about The Beekeeper.
10. vintage pretties:
    Vintage things besides clothes. A nice way of saying 'old stuff'. One day I'm gonna have a room of old stuff. Of Tiffany lamps and leather bound books. One day, my house is gonna take you back to the twenties and thirties. With black&white photographs, furniture, hairdos, wallpaper, houses, music. I love 30's jazz/blues. I want an old typewriter and I want an old record player with Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong albums that I play after I crank it up and it makes the hisscracklestatic white noise before the music starts and then you hear a slighty untuned piano and trumpet and Lady Day takes you away with her voice.
