To say that Brokeback Mountain ruled is totally an understatement. I won't spoil it for anyone, but EVERYONE who has access to this movie MUST go see it.

Really.

Because it is probably the best tragic love story I've ever seen. And I *don't* like tragic love stories at all. I despise tragic love stories, in fact. Because they never ring true to me. But Brokeback Mountain was truer than true?

And there was one scene where I thought my heart was going to explode in my chest from glee and joy and love and sweet, sweet sorrow because *oh my god* how much did they love each other and how beautiful was it?

So. Beautiful.

Some idiot in our newspaper was trying to act like Brokeback Mountain wasn't that great of a movie with the old "I don't have a problem with gay people, it's just the movie..."

Nuh uh. If you have any part of your *soul* that can be the least bit nonjudgemental and learn to accept people this movie will win you over. And if it doesn't? I'm thinking that you don't have that part like I do.

The only valid complaint about the movie I could see was that sometimes it *was* a little slower and quieter than it could have been and there were times when I wanted to see Ennis express a little more of what was going on inside of himself. I wish the movie had centered on Jack, because Jack was *way* more externalizing, but then it would've been a way different movie.

It ruled. It ruled a lot.

And bonus, Anne Hathaway does a really good job being a bitch and a really shallow blonde. Finally, a movie where she's NOT a princess! Michelle Williams wasn't as good as everyone is raving that she is. Frankly, I think that her part could've been played by just about anyone. Some part of the movie I felt sympathy for her position, but not the character herself.

Okay, enough movie reviewing.

Go SEE it.

Yes. You would've been great as Heath Ledger's unloved wife. :) I think they didn't cast you, because with you in the movie, the fabulousness would've been too much!

You know, I so know what you are saying! Not sure how good I would be as the unloved anyone to be honest, especially with this haircut. lol

Yeah, you're right. The hair's all wrong for it. But still, you'd've been fabulous.

They just blew that bit of casting, didn't they? Tell you what, next gay cowboy movie I make, you're a shoe-in. :)

Hmmmm, gay cowboy? Not too sure about that one Meg. It would give the Jedi a bad name ;)

OK, I haven't seen it. Don't have much desire to, and it's not playing out here anyway. But that about makes us even on the "needing to de-friend you for that" front. We do not speak ill of Mickey. ;)

Hey, it's not that I don't like Michelle Williams. I think she's fabulous in other roles. I just think that anyone who can be really quietly sad and angry could've done this role, that's all.

She did it well, I just think that giving her an award for it is like giving someone an award for chewing bubble gum. I'd rather see her get an award for a role that required more acting skills (which she has).

Don't have much desire to, and it's not playing out here anyway.

That's a shame. Because it really is a GREAT movie, and you should see it just to say you've seen it at least and if you ever could/would drag yourself to sit down in front of a screen and watch it, I think you'd like it.

I don't expect it would be a bad movie. I just generally tend not to be a love story/romantic comedy fan. About the only such films I can think of off the top of my head that I have enjoyed have been primarily due to being a fan of one of the protagonists (ex: William Shaekespeare's Romeo & Juliet, Wimbledon)

Hmmm... apparently it also helps to have a title starting with W... :)

It also apparently helps to remember to check "Check spelling and preview"... ;)
