Friday, 17 March 2006 13:05My face is almost back to normal and less than a day before I go to NYC to see teh_boy. In fact, given the landing time of 9:15am EST, I have about 20 hours left (give or take some, my math is bad).
Woohoo!
I'm mostly up and running again after spending three days convalescing at my grandmother's house. BTW, there is no better health care than my grandmother. Seriously. She makes a fantastic nurse and for some reason, I just felt *better* when I was there with her.
I'm also going to try to go the rest of the day without any pain medication. So far, I haven't needed it since 7am this morning when I woke up with my jaw cracking apart. I figure if I can make the rest of this day then I can not have to take anymore of the stuff.
Vicodin was nice, but the post-op stuff they gave me (oxycodone) is like being hit with a velvet hammer. Or, you know, slowly drowned in warm pudding.
Which is nice if you don't need your brain for the next few hours. Or you know, the ability to walk or form rational thoughts.
I also have a fear of getting addicted to the stuff, so I'm trying not to take any unless I really, really need it. Because lord knows that I'll have enough to do when I get home from spring break and have to make up reading/classwork.
Brushing my teeth is a bit dicey, but they gave me a super-soft toothbrush to use. I'm kinda scared to use my regular electric toothbrush until the stitches dissolve, because, ya know. I just don't think a super-sonic rotating brush-head and dental sutures are mixy things.
I don't wanna be the first person to have their stitches ripped out by an electric toothbrush on hi-speed.
Yeah, I realize that was TMI on many levels - but it's really rare for me to be unwell or have major health issues so this is a bit of a novelty. Bear with me.
Or, you know, skim your f-list.
Whichever.
