It's raining randomness all over the place!

Everything I believe about the whole Plan B controversy, only said way better. The entry made me think about my stepmother, oddly.

For those not in the know, my stepmother is a nurse. And one time I was asking her a bunch of random questions about her being a nurse - "what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen?" and the like. And she told me that one time she had some people who were Wiccan (IIRC) come in and their belief was that you should put a knife underneath the patient's bed to "cut through" the pain.

While I could tell she didn't approve or believe in it as anything but silliness, she shrugged and said that as a nurse, she had to let them. It was their right.

See? See how easy that was to do?

You shrug and you say, "well, it's their right". You don't have to believe what the patient believes, you just have to *do* your fricking job. Because health care jobs are so important that people should either be able to their personal beliefs aside for the good of the patient, or they should find another career.

Yar, I remember that story. How is Mrs. T doing?
I remember hearing the knife=pain killer in Gone With the Wind. Butterfly McQueen (Prissy) says "Mama says to put a knife under the bed. It cuts the pain in 2."
