Why single out the last season of Angel? I'm pretty sure we don't agree on post-high school Buffy, either. :)

One good thing I will say for Angel S5, having caught a few of them in reruns: Angel's finale was everything "Chosen" should have been, but wasn't.

Oh, NFA totally kicked "Chosen"'s ass. I think it was because Joss was less nostalgic about his own show and because there was a lot of anger behind it.

No need to apologize for that. Angel was, without a doubt, a better show than post-"Graduation Day" Buffy. And even though I haven't seen anything that's made me regret boycotting S5 (outside of the last 20 minutes of "Smile Time"), even the robot ninjas and WWII ep weren't as bad as the worst post-high school Buffy, IMHO.

Well, I apologize because I don't think it was really anyone's fault. By the time Angel came around, Joss had a loyal fanbase and three years experience and wasn't weighed down by as much, thus Angel was free to do better things.

Whereas Buffy had to transition out of high school and had a lot of history from the first three seasons to deal with.

The robot ninja ep is better than it sounds. I dunno if you've seen it, but I rather liked it - if only because I think it shows Wesley at his full potential.
