Dude, I seriously love childfree and cf_hardcore, but I can't visit those comms but maybe once a month - if that.

Thing is? While I'm all about the childfree, every time I go into those places I come out with a feeling of "oh, no, the breeders are going to eat me alive! All my rights are going to go away! HEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP! They're gonna make me have baybeeeeeeez!"

Then I have to take a deep breath and remind myself that, I live in America and Plan B is becoming ever more accessible and hey - I'm not that offended by kids. With the except of especially obnoxious ones, I don't get squicked by children. They don't bother me.

So, no need to panic.

Besides, I just don't have the emotional strength to get upset about something like that for any extended period of time. It's the same reason I can't join mock_the_stupid or customers_suck. If I only thought about the crappy things in life, I would fall apart. I need my gleeposts, dude.

The only reason I go in there is sometimes there's interesting links, discussion, and people are good about giving out the names of doctors who'll sterilize you without "bingoing" you.

I'm giving myself three more years before I really confront the sterilization issue. I figure if by 25 I'm still set in my childfree ways, then off to the gyno I go. Besides, trying to get someone to give me essure or a tubal at 22 would be damn near impossible.

I also am not interested in having children (although have yet to join a community about it!). The anti-choice sentiment in this country has always been puzzling to me, too, but I take solace in the fact that there will always be Canada in case of an emergency :)

I used to visit the childfree community when I was feeling especially besetwith child-focused society. It was a little two monodimensional for me to stay.

*suddenly notices your music and bellows* "I'm childfree and I'M OK..." ;>


Had a similar issue as yours with mock_the_stupid--I used to go to some grammar-bashing site because horrid grammar can be funny. In the case of this community however, it was less humorous than it was mean.
