5 Things That Were Good About Today
1. The weather. It's so pretty today!
2. The Stop 'n Shop has express checkouts now. (I have an irrational fear of cashiers judging me by what I buy)
3. The Boy absconded with more office products for me
4. Seeing the neighborhood full of people walking around
5. The scale says I have lost 4 pounds since I last weighed! The pants concur.


3 Things I Did Well
1. Have kept up with embodiment solidly in my spiffy new journal
2. Vaccuumed, cleaned and almost did laundry
3. Extremely reasonable eating


2 Things I Look Forward To
1. More nice weather
2. The street fair tomorrow


Yesterday, when I was walking by the elementary school that's near the apartment, I looked at the kids playing and I thought: Wow. I am so glad that portion of my life is over. When I was much younger, someone once told me that adulthood never ends, so I should treasure being a kid.

And now, I'm glad I'll never be a child again. Whatever bright spots there were, and however difficult being an adult is, it's better this way.

When you're an adult if you don't like how your life is, you can change it. That change might be hard as hell to do, and it might require making sacrifices - but at least you have the choice. You can change jobs, you can leave your spouse.

When you're a kid, you can't give a two week notice and go to a school you like better, and you can't get divorce of your parents if they're lousy to you and emotionally crippling you.

Word. Childhood sucked. Glad I can buy liquor and drive and work in a career that pleases me.

People say dumb things. "These are the best years of your life." No, no they weren't. Thank god.

And when I graduated college, some moron told me "Welcome to the real world." I gave the are-you-short-bus-material stare. Dude. When I gradded shortly after my 23rd b-day, I had just filed for divorce and every day felt like I was walking on broken glass. While I was in school, I was going full time and working two jobs and still was at the top of my class in my core classes. If it got any 'realer' I might not be here to tell the tale.

I love Stop and Shop express check out! I really like interacting with the weird computer. But it can also be fun to freak out check-out people with your bizarre load (when I lived in a 20-person co-op, I used to tell the check-out person that my two grocery carts full of stuff were for my 12 children).

And I am also very glad not to be a child anymore. It really sucked, which isn't to say that adulthood never does, but at least you have more control over it.
